What does an electrocardiograph technician do?
Electrocardiograph (EKG or ECG) technicians operate equipment that measures, monitors, and records the electrical impulses transmitted by a patient’s heart.
They provide services such as:
- obtaining information for EKG records
- connecting electrodes to leads from the EKG machine
- conducting the electrocardiogram
- identifying abnormal heart rhythms
- recognizing emergencies and assisting the responding physician
